 A Taste of Stillwater

was a big success!

 

 

We appreciate  those who attended,

donated and supported

this event on March 27. 

Once again, we had around 1,000 people come

through the doors and over 30 restaurants

participate, raising over $10,000 for SPEF!

Spring 2012

SPEF Grant Recipients

Awards totaling $12,890.00

 

 

 

Calculators. This grant funds the purchase of 15 Texas Instruments Nspire CX graphing calculators for Stillwater High School. The calculators will be used in the classrooms and will be available for the up to 180 students enrolled in mathematics classes from Algebra I to AP Calculus. The grant was awarded to Larry Hesler in the amount of $2,150.00.
                       
A “Sense-Sational” Therapeutic Garden. This project builds raised gardening beds, purchases gardening tools and equipment, and seeds to be used in an interactive learning program for Stillwater High School students with disabilities.   The grant, funded at $1,550.00 was awarded to Melanie Eick.
 
It is Easier to Build a Child than Repair an Adult. Grant funds were approved to purchase 30 pedometers for use in an after school Wellness/Fitness Club at Stillwater High School. Grant funds, in the amount of $570.00, was awarded to Dr. Dan Zeroski.
 
Drop Out Prevention. Grant funds were approved to assist in the extension of a Lincoln Alternative Academy program that is offered at Stillwater Middle and Junior High Schools. The program provides curriculum materials to use with at risk students. The $320.00 grant was awarded to George Horton.
 
For All to See. This proposal provides funding to purchase a mobile zig-zag display unit to be used for showing student art work in Stillwater Middle and Junior High Schools. The $635.00 grant was awarded to Crista McCann (MS) w/ Collaboration from Tandi Memmott (JH), Clay Jackson (MS/JH) and Erica Burns (MS).
 
Lights, Camera, Action. Funding will purchase a documents camera, which allows the teacher to project any teaching object or image, for use in humanities courses taught at Stillwater Middle School. The $650.00 grant was awarded to Erica Burns.
 
Ready Readers: Books on the Go.  This grant was approved for funding at Sangre Ridge Elementary School to prepare book bags that Pre-K students can take home to read with their parents. 120 book bags and 400 books will be purchased to support reading at home. The $3,120.00 grant was awarded to Carleen Zacher and Melisa Gungoll.
 
iCan Communicate: Speech/Language Intervention Supported (District).   Grant funds were approved to purchase 10 iPads to be used to support speech and language therapy in all school sites in Stillwater Public Schools. The $3,250.00 grant was awarded to Mary Hoyt, Leslie Muegge, Susan Blake, Seana Ogle, Suzy Roderick and Marilyn Spencer.
 
Play, Sing and Move with Xylophones. A shared grant proposal from Richmond and Highland Park Music Departments seeks funding to purchase xylophones for use in the music program. Grant funds, in the amount of $550.00 was awarded to Marie Wilson (RI) and Kerry Bishop (HP).
